This Privacy Policy describes how Ilie Babcenco, an individual operating Holy Way as a sole developer based in the Republic of Moldova ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Holy Way mobile application (the "App").
We built Holy Way to help people connect with Scripture in a personal way. We take privacy seriously and collect only what we need to make the App work.
During onboarding you may provide: - Spiritual goals (e.g., "Building daily habit", "Finding peace") - Life situations (e.g., "Anxiety or fear", "Career uncertainty") - Christian denomination (optional) - Additional details you choose to type in (optional, free-text) - Preferred Bible translation - App and Bible language preference
This information is used only to personalize the daily Scripture passages we serve you, and only by services that operate on your behalf.
When you enable notifications, we store an opaque device-specific token issued by Apple Push Notification service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). The token contains no personal information — it's an address that lets us deliver a notification to your device.
We use the information described above only to: - Authenticate you and keep your session secure - Personalize the daily Scripture passage and accompanying reflection - Sync your bookmarks, highlights, and reading position across your devices - Send the daily reminder push notification at the time(s) you choose - Diagnose and fix bugs
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or third-party marketers.
To personalize each daily passage, your Faith Context (denomination, spiritual goals, life situations, optional free-text details) is sent to our AI processing partner, Anthropic (Claude), operating under their commercial data processing agreement. Anthropic does not train their general models on this data per our agreement.
You can turn off AI personalization any time in Settings → Use AI. With AI personalization disabled, your Faith Context stays on our servers but is not transmitted to Anthropic; we serve a non-personalized Scripture passage instead.
Application data is stored on cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services). The specific AWS region will be confirmed in this Privacy Policy prior to public launch; this notice will be updated and the effective date revised at that time. All data in transit between the App and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher. Stored passwords are hashed with BCrypt (work factor 12).
You can, at any time: - Access your data through the App (History, Bookmarks, Settings) - Correct your Faith Context by re-running onboarding (Home → Personalize) - Delete your account through Settings → Delete account - Withdraw consent for AI personalization by toggling Settings → Use AI
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also have rights under the GDPR including: the right to data portability (we'll provide a copy of your data on request), the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, and the right to object to processing.

We implement industry-standard measures including: TLS encryption in transit, BCrypt password hashing, JWT-based session tokens with short expiry, rate limiting on authentication endpoints, and HTTPS Strict-Transport-Security. No system is perfectly secure; if you suspect your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
Holy Way is intended for users 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We use the following third-party processors: - Amazon Web Services (AWS) — application hosting and database - Anthropic (Claude) — AI personalization (only when Use AI is enabled) - Apple Push Notification service / Firebase Cloud Messaging — push-notification delivery (only when notifications are enabled)
Each operates under standard data processing terms. We do not share your data with anyone else.
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we'll notify you in-app or by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
